Google, Apple and others ask Putin to reject the law on the pre-installation of Russian applications on smartphones

Business representatives asked Vladimir Putin to reject the law on the mandatory pre-installation of Russian software on smartphones, tablets and smart TVs.

The corresponding letter was sent to the President by the Association of Trading Companies and Manufacturers of Electrical and Computer Equipment (RATEK), Vedomosti reported. It includes Google, Apple, Samsung, Intel and others.

The authors are confident that the bill will negatively affect the development of the industry, as well as lead to the monopolization of software. The RATEK believes that the law violates the principles of the World Trade Organization and the provisions of the agreement on the EAEU.

Fulfillment of these requirements may lead to increased disintegration processes within the EAEU and reduced business activity in the consumer electronics and software market.

However, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the Kremlin has not yet received such appeals.
