The FBI is actively looking for contractors to perform an important task – tracking Facebook, Instagram and Twitter of terrorist threats. The system should work in a mode “close to real time”, and not in fact, which probably complicates the task. The documents noted that monitoring must be ensured for all social networks.
In addition to searching for potential threats, contractors will need to provide the customer with additional information – IP addresses, phone numbers, social security numbers and other data.
According to CNN, the FBI is not the first to attempt to monitor a certain kind of activity on social networks. In 2016, for example, the Bureau used the services of the analytic company Dataminr to create an algorithm to search for relevant open data on specified filters on Twitter (private companies, including CNN, also use the company’s services).
Now the FBI wants to penetrate deeper than usual.
