Microsoft has released a version of the new Microsoft Edge browser on the Chromium engine for Windows 7 and 8. It is currently available for Windows 10 and macOS-based computers. The web browser has not yet received the final version, only test builds are available for download.
Microsoft notes that the browser retains many of the features of the Edge version, which was developed on the company’s proprietary engine. At the same time, Edge will support Chrome extensions from the Google directory.
When exactly the full release of Chromium Edge will take place is unknown.
