Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2019, the main video game show of the year, is about to start. For the 25th time, game developers and publishers are preparing to present their projects to the world. In this article we have gathered for you all the facts and rumors about the upcoming E3.
Stream EA Play: June 8, 19:15
It all starts today with the presentation of Electronic Arts. This company has already split off from E3 for several years, but each holds its own event shortly before the exhibition. This year, EA Play is likely to go without unexpected surprises.
The presentation will start with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order – show the gameplay of the game and share new information about the project. They will not forget about the already released projects: Apex Legends will get the second season, Battlefield V will get new content, and all fans of The Sims 4 will have a new addition. In addition, they will tell you about the sports line of games – where without them. That is, you can safely wait for the new FIFA and MADDEN NFL.
But you should not expect more. The next part of the Need for Speed, according to the publisher, will miss the E3, but it will be released this fall. About the same story in the new game Plants vs Zombies.
Microsoft: June 9, 23:00
We proceed to the conferences within the framework of the E3 itself. The first will be the representatives of Microsoft. This year there will not be their main competitor in the person of Sony, so that “Mikey” are going to use this chance to its fullest. Fans are waiting for the main thing – the announcement of the Xbox. According to rumors, there will be two consoles at once – under the code names Anaconda and Lockhart. In addition, information about Project xCloud, the Microsoft cloud-based gaming service, will appear. And as a bonus – news about the Xbox Game Pass for PC.
As for the games, then Microsoft promises to fill up fans with new projects. And they will show both large games announced last year and creations from small divisions of the company.
Among the “heavyweights” – Halo Infinite, announced at last year’s E3. According to insiders, the development of the game was allocated about half a billion dollars, which is a huge budget by the standards of the entire industry. Most likely, the release of the project will be timed to the appearance of the next generation of consoles. In addition, they will tell about the reprints of Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Halo: Reach games on PC.
Recall Microsoft and another about one well-known series – Gears of War. At E3 2018, the studio announced a whole line of games: Gears POP, Funko’s mobile toy design, Gears Tactics, a step-by-step strategy in the spirit of restarting XCOM, and finally Gears 5, a complete new part of the series. The entire line should show this year.
But on this announcements are just beginning. Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, in his Twitter said that the exhibition will show 14 games from Xbox Game Studios, including Fable IV, the new Age of Empires and the playable demo The Outer Worlds. As it was before, other studios will also want to participate in the Microsoft presentation, so their show will be very rich.
Bethesda: June 10, 03:30
The company Bethesda this year, on the contrary, will slow down. The main point of the program will be the Doom Eternal project announced at E3 2018 – a continuation of the successful restart of Doom 2016. The game is simple: more blood, cool guns and a furious action. Cooperative shooter Wolfenstein: Youngblood about the daughters of BJ Blazhkovich and the VR-fighter Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot will not be forgotten either, but we are unlikely to face a new full-fledged part of this series in the near future.
In addition, it is expected to show a bunch of content for already released games like Rage 2, The Elder Scrolls Online, The Elder Scrolls: Legends and Fallout 76. But fans should not wait for information about The Elder Scrolls VI or the science fiction Starfield. Executive producer Todd Howard, at PAX East 2019 at the end of March, said it was too early to talk about these projects and fans should be patient.
I want to believe that Bethesda has a few trump cards in his pocket, otherwise their conference promises to be quite boring.
PC Gaming Show: June 10, 20:00
The conference for PC gamers, as always, will consist of presentations of several large projects and a whole placer of indie titles. Borderlands 3 and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 have already been announced on the PC Gaming Show, which are likely to be played. Announce and Evil Genius 2 – the continuation of the once popular simulator villain of Bond, and another global update for Warframe. Without indie, too, will not do, so expect a huge number of low-budget PC games.
The main sponsor of the PC Gaming Show this year will be Epic Games, so get ready for the fact that many games will be exclusive to their store.
Ubisoft: June 10, 23:00
And here is the main conference of the day. The company Ubisoft, in addition to the mandatory additions, updates and other content to the already released games, will bring several full-fledged AAA-projects, for which we love this studio.
First of all, this is Sony’s recently announced Ghost Recon Breakpoint game on Sony’s streamline, in which the operatives of the Ghost squad will become the target of a mysterious militarized group.
Secondly, it is Watch Dogs Legion, information on which was poured so actively that Ubisoft had to announce the game earlier. According to Kotaku journalist Jason Schreier, the game will take place in London after brexit, and the player can take control of any NPC.
Schreier also shared insights on three still unannounced Ubisoft games. Among them are Roller Champions – cartoon roller skating race, Orpheus – adventure game in the style of The Legend of Zelda and a new part of the Rainbow Six, which will remain a cooperative tactical shooter, but will move into the scenery space.
But Beyond Good & Evil 2 will not be on the show. The developers have said directly that they will not show the game at the upcoming E3, but a full-fledged demo will be ready by the end of 2019. Loyal fans will have to wait a little longer.
Square Enix: June 11, 04:00
Cases at Square Enix in recent years are not particularly rosy. Sales of two major games publisher – Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Just Cause 4 – turned out to be much lower than expected. However, as the company president Josuke Matsuda said while communicating with investors, this will not prevent Square Enix from announcing several new games at the exhibition.
One can only guess what these projects will be, but the gaming community is actively hoping for the long-awaited remake of Final Fantasy 7, promised back in 2015. Similarly, the game will appear on the “Avengers” from Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal, as well as something on Dying Light 2 from Techland. Also Square Enix is going to show the mysterious Outriders, which, according to rumors, may be a new game from People Can Fly studio, known for Painkiller and Bulletstorm meat shooters.
Nintendo: June 11, 19:00
As you can guess, the Nintendo conference will be entirely devoted to the Switch console. At first, the Japanese are going to launch a small presentation of projects, and then within the framework of the streams with the developers they will tell about them in more detail. Among those announced at the conference is Bayonetta 3, a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, a new Animal Crossing and much more. In addition, it is safe to wait for the announcement of ports from other platforms.
What else can you see at E3 2019?
- Devolver Digital Conference, June 10, 05:00. The only conference, filled to the top with thrash and waste. Watch it worth it if not for the sake of games, then just for the sake of an absurd performance. Most likely, this year Devolver Digital is not stingy on liters of fake blood, severed limbs and other attributes of its events. Games too, most likely, will show.
- The E3VR Showcase, June 10, 19:00. The conference will be in the spirit of all lovers of games for virtual reality helmets.
- Limited Run Games, June 10, 10:00 pm If you are interested in collecting games on physical media – then you are here. If not – you can safely pass by.
- AMD Next Horizon Gaming, June 11, 01:00. As part of its own presentation, AMD will show a series of video cards Radeon RX 5000, as well as share news about the latest advances in gaming.
- Kinda Funny Games Showcase, June 11, 02:30. Another presentation for fans of indie games, this time from the channel Kinda Funny Games.
- Netflix, June 12, 10 PM A newcomer to E3, Netflix, is going to bring several games to the exhibition on its series. So far, only Stranger Things 3: The Game has been announced, so it’s unclear exactly which shows will find their second life in the new format.
- E3 Coliseum. Throughout the entire E3 2019, dozens of small interviews will be held with game developers, both large and small, as part of the E3 Coliseum. You should not expect cool videos or presentations, but the details and interesting insiders – completely.
