NVIDIA is at the heart of promoting ray-tracing technology. At the Computex exhibition underway, there is a computer on which Quake II RTX is installed – the original version, which was upgraded or traced in real-time. Quite, rather visually unpretentious, Quake II began to play with new colors.
It is worth noting that, in addition to the RTX technology, new textures, weapon models, etc. are also used. But most assets remain the same.
Quake II RTX will be released on June 6th. Its first three levels will be free, and the owners of the original Quake II will be able to pick up the full game for free . Of course, in order to experience the beauty of ray tracing, you will have to play on a computer with an appropriate video card.
