Huawei received a temporary license to work in the United States to support its networks and devices.

It is valid for 90 days, until August 2019.

  • The US government has issued a temporary license to Chinese Huawei and its subsidiaries for a period of August 19, 2019. Until that time, the company will be able to buy and use components and other goods from the United States to support its networks and devices.
  • In this case, Huawei is still forbidden to buy goods from the United States to create new products, said Reuters. The license will allow the company to release updates for local smartphones, service networks and telecommunications equipment.
  • On May 16, 2019, the US Department of Commerce blacklisted Huawei and prohibited it from purchasing hardware and software from US companies without the permission of the US government. After that, sources from Reuters and Bloomberg said that Google, as well as chip makers Intel, Qualcomm, Xilinx and Broadcom, refused to cooperate with the company.
  • Huawei promised that users of Huawei devices and Honor sub-brand will receive security updates. What will happen to the devices that the company will release in the future is still unknown.
