Ray tracing will appear on older NVIDIA video cards

NVIDIA decided to transfer the company’s ray-tracked technology to the video card from outside the RTX line. Support will be implemented starting from April, when the corresponding version of drivers will be released. Very old graphics accelerators will not receive support – this is primarily about the GTX 1060, GTX 1070 and GTX 1080.

Also, the list included only the announced GeForce GTX 1660 Ti and GTX 1660, the company will be made up of Titan X video cards. It is noted that trace support is implemented at a basic level and with low fps. It is unlikely that this opportunity is in demand among gamers, for whom the frame rate in the game is more important than the subtle improvements in the picture on the screen.

NVIDIA noted that the appearance of ray tracing on GTX cards was a long time in the company’s plans.
