Media: cinemas opposed the transfer of “Fast and the Furious 8” for the sake of the Russian film “Time of the First”

Representatives of several cinema chains asked the Ministry of Culture not to move the date of the premiere of “Fast and the Furious 8” due to the release of Timur Bekmambetov’s film “Time of the First”. This is reported by Vedomosti with reference to the head of one of the movie networks. 

The Russian release of “Fast and the Furious 8” was scheduled for April 13, however, due to the cosmonautics timed to the Time of the First film, the premiere date of the gunman was postponed to April 20. Sources “Vedomosti” reported that the decision has already been made and in the near future, “Fast and the Furious” will receive a rolling license with the designated date of the premiere.

The producer of the film Timur Bekmambetov and the leading actor Yevgeny Mironov took the initiative to postpone the release of the action movie. Employees of cinemas explained that in this way Russian cinema is trying to temporarily get rid of competitors.

According to Vedomosti, several movie network managers recently met with the deputy minister of culture and said that in the event of a transfer, the premieres of the eighth Forsage can be removed from the hire of the First Time.

“Fast and Furious 7” has become one of the highest-grossing films in the history of Russian hire. The picture came out in April 2015 and collected more than 1.7 billion rubles in domestic cinemas. World fees exceeded $ 1.5 billion.

Earlier, the Ministry of Culture  convened a  special council, which determined which of the two Russian films about space will be released in April. For the date of the premiere fought “Time of the First” Bekmambetov and “Salyut-7” company Sergei Selyanov. Experts gave preference to the first picture, and the release of the second was proposed to be postponed to October.
